A Mid-Week All White Party!

Dressing like a virgin really isn't my forte, but standing out in a crowd is. We were glowing with our all white attire and luminous accessories at a recent party my sister and I attended. It really is so hard to hold back on the drinking and partying in the middle of the week, especially because the 'big move' was taking place that following day. Our so-called solution? "Let's go without sleep and just go big tonight. If we're going to be hungover, let's at least make it worth it". Clever, really really clever. Point and case here is, we had a blast and definitely created a stir. We came home with no accessories, Poncho stains, a bruise and very little memory of it all.

Thank goodness for evidence  blackmail material  photos to refresh our memory.

Me and my partner-in-crime, Lieschen. Our lovely dresses are from Young Designers Emporium.

Pictured here with the birthday girl, Demi Moore.

Our awesome gal-pals!

What would a 21st birthday celebration be without those embarrassing speeches?

Funky cocktails on arrival!

Where the camera was, so were we.

My sister and I even painted our nails white.

Definitely my favourite photo of the night. All of us look completely wasted.

I have no idea who this guy is, but at least we had one thing in common...

Then we just danced the night away!

Happy 21st birthday, Demi - it's her birthday today! Have a fabulous day and year ahead! Please don't take me partying with you tonight. I don't think I'll survive another drunk night or hangover at work. Then again, it is Tequila Tuesday. Oh boy, rubber arm!

Weekend Madness!

What started out to be a "manicure and pedicure evening" on Friday, turned into a complete wild party. So, two of my best friends came over to my place and we did our nails, caught up on the latest while drinking wine and listening to all our favourite music. To me, wine plus great music, equals party vibe. Even though we decided beforehand that we're not going out, it was this equation that led us to our favourite party spot. Oh boy, how I wish I can just say no at times. We decided that we're not dressing up or going to do effort with hair and make-up. We went out just the way we looked. Flat shoes and pony-tails. Then, as luck would have it, we bumped into so many familiar faces and friends. No matter how shit and ordinary we looked, we got more free drinks that night, than at any other party before! None of us spent a dime. In fact, I came home with R100 extra! We danced up a storm, mingled, had a few shooters and decided, we're going to go crash a house party in Loevenstein. Technically speaking, I was invited, but, at the time, decided that a quiet evening at home would be the more responsible option. You know, seeing that I had a breakfast date at the Mount Nelson Hotel early Saturday morning.
We got to the house party and immediately hit the dance floor. When I saw KFM DJ, Denver Apollus, in charge of the music, I knew that the majority of my evening would be spent dancing. Again, bumped into many friends and even the ex boyfriend *dramatic music plays*. Two of my gal pals left early(ish), which kinda left me and my other friend stranded. No car and no house keys. When the party was finally over and I walked outside for the first time, the sun was shining! I was like, oh gawd, please tell me it's 05h00. Unfortunately not. I had one hour to find a way home, freshen up and get my ass to the hotel. Yeah, so that didn't exactly work out according to plan. Seeing that my friend and I both locked ourselves out of our houses, we had no way of getting dressed OR had access to my car. Needless to say, I had to skip the birthday breakfast (yes, I'm a shit friend and I feel even shittier) because I still had to go to the boyfriend who, apparently, had a surprise planned for me. I felt like death warmed up, no matter how many energy drinks I downed.
The boyfriend and I went out for drinks and, even though I swore to never touch alcohol again, I had a Hunters Extreme in the hope of feeling better. That didn't work. Food is what my body needed. Next stop was a vineyard. You'd think this is the last place I'd want to be, but all I wanted was to sit down and eat something healthy. A glass of dry white wine and a chicken and litchi salad later, I felt a little better, but still not capable of making small-talk. My energy was mainly used for keeping my eyes open. After that, we met up with friends again because everyone felt like going out and dancing. Me? I would swop my car for a few hours' sleep! But, not wanting to be the party-pooper or miss out on anything, I went along. After a few more drinks and the right song, I suddenly felt ready for a party all over again. We went out dancing and got home 'round 02h30. Now, it's been over 24 hours since I last slept, so I just couldn't wait to get home! The surprise my boyfriend had planned, was that we were gonna see 30 Seconds to Mars perform in Cape Town, then sleep at a hotel. Yeah, so that didn't work out either. Again. So I don't know if I should be cross with myself for going way too big Friday night or pissed off with him for not taking me anyway. Tired or hungover! I mean, I was dragged along to go dancing!

Sunday I felt like a human-being again! We went to Paarl for a late lunch and, for the first time that weekend, I ate proper food! Man, steak and veggies never tasted so good before. Oh, naturally, I had wine.

I'm glad this weekend is over, but I'm not happy to be at work today! I'd much rather sleep some more or soak up the sun. Heck, I'd rather do dishes than sit here!

Happy Monday folks!
This week I will detox, exercise and take it easy, because this coming weekend is going to be a hectic one!

It's Friday and I...

... am becoming a regular in Hermanus. Going there again.
... am relieved that the house-hunting is over! Now for the big move and housewarming.
... don't even have one piece of furniture for the new place! Can anyone say 'stress'!
... knew from the start that Mariah Carey is pregnant. Why do celebs always deny it?
... had a hangover from hell yesterday and had to come to work! I never ate so much in one day.
... was home-alone last night, but had time to give myself a decent manicure and pedicure.
... am so heartbroken about my camera that got stolen last week. I took the coolest photos at the Moulin Rouge party and now I can't even share the pictures with you.
... don't really celebrate Halloween, but perhaps I should dress up anyway!
... decided that I would accept every friend request on Facebook from now on. So feel free to add me.
... am changing my hair style in a few days! Going dark with bangs!
... want to be a poster girl, but need 1000 followers on Twitter. Help a girl out please!
... am eating a large bag of cheese-and-onion flavoured popcorn! This might just be my new favourite snack.
... really need to get my ass to gym! I haven't been there in weeks. Seriously.
... can't wait for Wednesday! Meeting great people that will help my sister and I with our Twice the Taste website and ventures.
... really am happy that it's Friday and that the holidays are around the corner. Finally!

Happy Friday world. Let's get this weekend started!

The six star hangover!

I've received an e-mail about the different kinds of hangovers, but the six star hangover just took me back to my party days. Actually, just took me back to last weekend. Nevertheless, I'm sharing it with you, but edited it according to my experiences. If you can't relate, then you haven't partied. And I mean, partied.

You arrive home after a party and climb into bed. Sleep comes instantly, as you were fighting it all the way home in the taxi. You get about 2 hours sleep until the noises in your head wake you up. You notice that your bed has been cleared for take-off and is flying relentlessly around the room. It's spinning really fast and you're clutching the duvet in the hope not to fall off. No matter what you do now, you're going to chuck. You stumble out of bed and notice that your room as turned into a yacht under full sail with rough seas under your feet. Is this even your room? After stumbling down the passage, alternating between the two walls, you find your way to the toilet. The light has never seemed so bright. Hopefully you are lucky enough to reach the toilet in time and remember to lift the lid before you spontaneously explode. You wake the whole house up with your impersonation of walrus mating calls. You sit there on the floor in your undies, clutching the only friend you have left in the world (the toilet), randomly continuing to make the walrus noises, spitting, and farting. Help usually comes at this stage, even if it is short-lived. Tears stream down your face and your abdomen hurts. Help now turns into abuse and your partner usually goes back to bed, leaving you there in the dark. With your stomach totally empty, your spontaneous eruptions have died back to 15-min intervals, but your body won't relent. You are convinced that you are starting to turn yourself inside out and swear that you saw your tonsils shoot out of your mouth on the last occasion. Or was that perhaps a piece of your liver? It is now dawn and you pass your disgusted partner getting up for the day as you try to climb into bed. Your partner abuses you again for trying to get into bed with lumpy bits or dried vomit in your hair. You reek of vomit, tequila and cigarettes, and your body is ice cold. All you want now is sleep, but you reluctantly accept your partner's advice and have a shower in exchange for them driving you to the hospital. Death seems like an easy way out. Work is simply not an option. The whole day is spent trying to avoid anything that will make you sick again, like moving. You want to cry but that would take the last drop of moisture out of your body. All you want now is a full English breakfast with loads of fries and a 2L Creamsoda. You vow never to touch a drop of alcohol again and who knows, for the next two or three hours you might even succeed.

Ok, now hands up all those who have had a six star hangover! Thought so.
