When it comes to huge upcoming parties, I'm usually the first to know. So it's with great excitement that I can finally share my knowledge with you. Tomas Malinauskas, aka Harrison Crump's, fascination of putting on electronic sounds was aroused within the Cologne club scene in the late 2005. He debuted with several releases and approached ambitiously the art of mixing sounds. After the highly anticipated third album, The Amfa, was released, by which Tomas had set new standards, he showed his wide range in the electrohouse genre. This talented DJ played in the best Lithuanian clubs, his voice and his works are playing on the best Lithuanian radio stations and his cooperation with other performers, are endless. Now he's coming to show off his skills in Cape Town on the 17th of December at the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock.
I believe this is an event not to be missed, so get your tickets at Computicket now and be a part of one of the biggest parties Cape Town has seen in a long time!

It's Friday and I...
... really enjoyed the bloggers get-together on Wednesday evening. The feedback everyone has given, was very positive, so let's do it again. Next time we make sure every Capetonian blogger is there.
... am probably the ONLY blogger, who also attended that event, not actually doing a special blog post about it. But I'll say this, I won a wonderful book that evening called, A Million Miles from Normal.
... have three working days left, then I'm off on a month long holiday.
... love NoMU's December pin-up, Beatnik Bazaar. If you haven't entered yet, you're losing out on the chance to win fat prizes! Go to Engen on Orange and get your pose on. I did.

... have two social events lined up this weekend. Can't believe I'm actually getting paid to party.
... learned that Facebook and Twitter are my friends. Oh, and Google Analytics. Thank you for that Vicky!
... am so hungry. Luckily my sister is on her way to me with McDonalds. Yummy!
... have the most fucked-up love life you can ever imagine! Just had to put it out there in case it wasn't already pretty obvious.
... need to get back into an exercise routine, but how is that possible with the holidays literally around the corner?
... find this rather strange: I update the details on my car insurance and notify them of my new address, thinking that my premiums would go down seeing that I live in an up market area with security. Turns out, according to their claims history, that area is 'high risk', so now I pay a shit load on car insurance. So much for honesty!
... by accidentally ordered a lamb! I asked for 'one', but with that I meant 'one kilo'. We'll be having a braai every night for the next month.
... don't even know how to prepare leg-of-lamb. Time to find out.
... am going to eat now. My sister's here with the foooood.
Happy Friday! I am in holiday mode and haven't been productive in days!

Cape Town Beer Festival
Saturday morning we felt a little fragile after Friday night's Sailor party, but we had to take our two winners of our Beer Fest competition to the festival. We started off with a decent, oily, made-for-hangovers breakfast, then we hit the road to the Hamilton's Rugby Stadium in Green Point. It was a bit windy, but we didn't let that stand in our way of a good party. We got there, tasted some foreign beers, stuffed our faces with pretzels and fries from Hudson's Burger (yes, a 'mobile' version of the one in Kloof Street) and even drank huge Black Label beers. I don't even drink beer, but it was actually not that bad. In fact, I might just drink it more often. There were other drinks to choose from, but I always say, 'when in Rome, do as the Romans'. We walked around at the festival and soaked up as much of it as we could, because we couldn't stay too long. Places to be, you know.
Overall the festival was fun. There were a lot of people! We missed out on the live bands, but we were in time for the rugby. We discovered this little smoking section with couches and a Foosball table, so we decided to make that our spot for the day.
Later that evening we decided that we were going to skip the Sasha Martinengo gig at China White, because we were somehow convinced to go to Wellington instead for a foam party. I just felt like doing something else for a change and a foam party was something I last did as a teen. I've never experienced a foam party quite like the one in Watergat. The foam was pouring from two machines, which were mounted to the roof, and the whole place was covered in foam. I was completely drenched! The whole place looked like one big swimming pool. I definitely want to do it again, but next time, I'll be beter prepared. I wish I had photos of this party, but we couldn't risk taking a camera in there. Or anything valuable for that matter. Oh, next time, I'm going in a bikini. Who wouldn't thought that foam can ruin your clothes the way mine was ruined! But what the heck, it was totally worth all the fun and laughter we got in return.
So glad the hectic weekend is over. Now to prep for the next weekend. The madness just never stops.

Cape Town's First Beer Festival: Win a party with us!
Cape Town Festival of Beer is the first festival to bring people together to celebrate beer and the art of brewing. Cape Town will be having its first beer fest from the 25th to the 27th of November 2010 from noon till 10pm, on the fields of Hamilton's Rugby Club in Green Point.
Now, just to prove to you that beer isn't something that belongs to the male domain, I'm giving two lucky gals a chance to come party with me and my sister (and you know, we have fun everywhere we go). Your prize will include a ticket to the Oktober-Fest-style Festival and a little goodie bag. All you have to do is either Twitpic a picture of you with a beer in hand (remember to include me in your Tweet) or e-mail me your picture. Every picture is an entry, so be creative to stand out from the rest. Leading up to the big day, I'll put some of the best pictures on my blog. So frauleins, if you like beer, festivals or a good party, then this giveaway is for you!
What to do at the Festival? If you're into Rugby, the final Springbok international game of the season will be screened live in the Carling Black Label tent. For the food-lovers, there will be a braai and cooking-with-beer competition, judged by Jan Braai. Furthermore there will be tug-of-war competitions (if you're feeling brave), live performances, food stalls and of course, loads of beer tasting. Just think: traditional South African festival.
And if you don't win? You can buy a ticket to the festival here or visit the website for more information. You can also follow Cape Town Festival of Beer on Twitter.
Go on and enter - the competition is now officially open! You have until Wednesday, the 24th to send in your pictures. The winner will be announced the next morning, 25th of November. If you're entering this competition, it means that you agree to the terms and conditions, and that you're available on the 27th of November. Further details will be arranged with the winners.
Good luck!!
Jemma

Winter Wonderland
Winter is officially in Cape Town. Ok, it has been winter for the past month or so, but I say 'officially' because I don't remember the last time I wanted to be outside or even near a window for that matter. Nor do I remember the last time I saw the sun, had a dry nose, wore just one layer of clothing, walked around bare feet, had frizzy-free hair or when sleep wasn't the most important thing. I must admit, winter is great for movie-marathons, taking long baths, lots of eating and even a good excuse to skip gym. Oh and of course, winter is when I get to celebrate my birthday!
Even though summer reminds me of a December holiday at the beach, nothing gives you a natural high like sitting by a fireplace, wrapped in a blanket, and watching the rain pour down outside. And there's nothing like visiting my grandma in Ceres and seeing the white mountain tops from up close. To me, winter represents peace and beauty, nature at its best.
Which is your favourite season?
